The tail is a little cut off but this is my first (of two so far) and favorite tattoo. The meaning behind it comes from the goldfish’s symbolism in Big Fish, my favorite movie. In the movie they constantly talk about the father being a big fish in a little pond, because goldfish grow larger if given more room; they grow to their potential. The other meaning behind it relates to how when the father died (sorry, spoiler alert!) he imagined he turned into a fish, and in other parts of the movie that huge fish is seen in the family’s swimming people. To me it means the people that are no longer in your life, whether they moved, died, or just grew apart from you, will always be a part of you in some way. Every single person molds who we are and the important ones live on somewhere inside us even if they aren’t physically there.
UH! I love this!
AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. D:
